Most business websites have a charity section tucked in the footer. A logo. A vague “we support good causes” sentence. Maybe a tax write-off. At re/start, we wanted to do more than check a box.
We believe that if you’re building infrastructure to help businesses grow, you should also build infrastructure to help the world grow with it. That’s why every time someone purchases a re/start Kit, 1% of the revenue is set aside for community impact. And at the end of the year? You decide where it goes.
Here’s the story behind our 1% Community Pledge and why it matters more than ever.
The Why Behind re/start
Before we talk about giving, we have to talk about what we’ve seen. re/start was born out of frustration. We watched hundreds of small business owners:
- Burn out trying to manage 10 disconnected tools
- Get burned by overpriced agencies or flaky freelancers
- Launch great ideas, only to abandon them from exhaustion
- Watch big corporations win by default thanks to better systems
We decided to do something about it. To bring enterprise-grade infrastructure to the people who need it most founders, consultants, creators, and small teams trying to build something real. But we didn’t want to just stop at business. Because re/start isn’t just a brand it’s a belief:
When people have structure, support, and clarity they can create real change.
That belief doesn’t end with clients. It extends to communities.
How the 1% Community Pledge Works
Every time someone signs up for re/start, 1% of the revenue is automatically set aside in a separate account. That’s not profit. It’s not after tax. It’s not what’s “left over.” It’s 1% of gross revenue set aside from day one. At the end of the year, we send out a short poll to every re/start client. You vote on the cause you care most about. We take the total pool and split it accordingly.
Example:
- 25% of customers choose education → 25% of funds go to education orgs
- 40% choose clean water → 40% goes there
- 10% choose support for single mothers → we fund accordingly
No vague promises. No PR spin. Just math. Just impact.
Why We Don’t Choose for You
Giving shouldn’t be top-down. You’re the reason this brand exists. Your business funded the pool. You should help shape where it goes. Some of our customers are based in the U.S. Others in MENA, LATAM, or Southeast Asia. Each one has different values, different hometowns, different communities. That’s why we created a vote-based donation model.
It lets you turn your purchase into purpose with real transparency.
Where the Money Goes
We don’t partner with random charities for press mentions. We focus on direct, verifiable, high-impact foundations and programs, including:
- Education Access – Scholarships, books, internet
- Clean Water Projects – Sustainable water supply initiatives
- Old Age Homes – Food, care, and dignity for the forgotten
- Support for Single Mothers – Housing, job training, emergency funds
- Climate Action – Reforestation and carbon reduction
- Mental Health Access – Therapy funding, hotlines, recovery support
Every dollar goes to work. We publish an annual impact report with receipts, photos, and breakdowns so you know it’s real.
Why It Matters to Us
You don’t need to be a billion-dollar company to give back. In fact, we believe small businesses are in the best position to build purpose into the business model itself.
Here’s why we made this a non-negotiable:
1. We believe business should leave things better than it found them.
The internet doesn’t need more noise. It needs more brands with spine.
2. We wanted customers to feel like co-creators.
You’re not just buying a service. You’re part of something bigger than a website and a CRM.
3. We wanted to build long-term trust.
Impact isn’t a one-off. It’s built into how we operate just like hosting, CRM, or support.
A Note to Founders Reading This
You might be reading this while trying to get your own business off the ground. Maybe you’re not in a place to give back right now. Maybe you’re just trying to make it to next month. We get it. We’ve been there. That’s why the 1% model is important it shows that giving doesn’t have to wait. You don’t need to be rich. You just need to be intentional. Even if re/start isn’t the right fit for you right now, take this with you: Purpose isn’t a later stage. It’s a foundation.
The businesses that last are the ones built with clarity, momentum and meaning.
